Fortune Teller

Tom met Jennifer about a year ago.  She has a shop in the same mall as his t-shirt shop. He likes the way the store looks and offered to photograph both her and the interior of the shop.  Jennifer is moving her shop to Paradise Mall this coming September 1st, to be called "Cleopatra's Temple of Egypt".  This is a cool photo trip!

Generally malls do not tolerate photographers, those that are identified by gear.  But, if you have permission from the owner and are taking their photo . . . well the rules are relaxed!  If you are looking for a classy fortune teller here is one to consider!!

South Rim Again

Yep, we went back.  We will again!  We started at Mather Point, rode the bus to the Village for lunch and then got back in the car and headed to the east end of the South Rim to the Watchtower.  Our goal, again, was to capture some golden sun on the tower. Of course, we stopped along the way.  We hope you enjoy our fun.

Another northeast shot.

Steps up the Watchtower.  You can go in, go up the stairs and get some very different views from the inside and top of the tower.

The Gift Shop and Cafe at the Watchtower.  You can get a pretty good bowl of chili with chopped onions and cheese and a side of bread for $3.75!  Hours are 8 to 8.

As we stood within inches of each other on the edge of the canyon with each of our 'black noses' pointed in the same direction, we laughed at the comment that all of our shots would look alike.  Yet, that is the way it was all day.  Personally, I felt a tremendous amount of support among good friends.  I also felt that being in each other's presence contributed to our effort to capture the best images.  The following photos are testimony to how many ways scene can be interpreted by any photographer.  The light changed very quickly, lens and setting selections varied and then there is the post processing . . .

I can hardly wait to go back!

2200 Miles, 3 States, 3 Parks II

Rick and Barbara made it to Denver.  After a few days of rest they hiked the Shrine Mountain Ridge Trail which sits atop of Vail Pass (10,600 feet).  Rick wrote, "The trail has a meager 800 foot gain in elevation but starts at 11,040 feet.  Needless to say, us two desert floor dwellers were sucking for air by the time we reached the top."

After such a strenuous hike (LOL) they celebrated with a beer in Frazier.

This is Arapahoe Basin, what you see when you exit the Eisenhower Tunnel.

Rick and Barbara spent the 4th of July in Brush, watching parades and fireworks with their son and his family.  Rick described it as a typical farm town July 4th celebration.  The day started with a pancake breakfast, then there was a short parade with, tractors, and street entertainers. There was even a Santa!!

Santa?

Then, it was time to head home.  The return trip was just as scenic, starting off with a drive to Moab and then Arches National Park.

Hard to believe what you would come up with to be the grand finale on a trip like this.  How about a drive to and through Monument Valley?  That would do it for me!!

We end with the obligatory post card shot!!  Can you see that car in the distance?  Can you hear Barbara yelling at Rick?

A very special thanks to Barbara and Rick for sharing.
